Initial Notification: On September 11, 2019, the USCG received a report of an unknown dark product around the paddle boat NATCHEZ IVO mile marker 96 in the Mississippi River. A Coast Guard overflight confirmed the dark product and sheen moving downstream along the left descending bank for approximately ¼ mile. USCG was unable to identify a responsible party and accessed the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund to hire an OSRO. Boom was placed around the impacted area. SSC and RRO will be onsite Sept 11 to assist.
