Initial Notification: On February 8, 2018, the USCG Sector New Orleans contacted the NOAA RRO regarding the discharge of oil resulting in an approximate 1.5mi x 50ft sheen located in Breton Sound. The observation, and subsequent notification, were reported by BSEE personnel during an overflight of the area. USCG Sector New Orleans IMD will be conducting an overflight in order to further assess the sheen size and coverage.
