Initial Notification: On January 22, 2018, the USCG contacted NOAA regarding a mystery spill in Woods Hole (Massachusetts) Harbor that was thought to have occurred the prior day. A sheen of approximately 100x100 yards oiled parts of the harbor and shoreline including the NOAA Marine Biological Lab. The NOAA SSC was contacted on the morning of 1/22 and advised US Coast Guard on cleanup issues. Scientists from Woods Hole Oceanographic Inst. took sample of the oil and have provided analysis.
