Initial Notification: On January 10, 2018, the USCG Sector Ohio Valley (MSU Huntington) contacted the NOAA SSC regarding a discharge of oil from a partially sunken towing vessel in the Big Sandy River approximately 7.8 miles upstream from the Ohio River (at Catlettsburg, WV). The 140 foot vessel sank with 4,000 gallons of bilge oil and 500 gallons of diesel on board. USCG is seeking trajectory and fate information.
