Akutan Abandoned Vessel; Unalaska, AK

Initial Notification: The FV Akutan was placed at anchor at the head of Captain's Bay on Unalaska Island and abandoned. On 7-Oct-2017, during high winds the vessel drifted and ended up within 100 yards near shore. USCG will open the fund to remove all the fuel from the vessel. FV Akutan contains 25,000 gallons of diesel, hydraulic oils, and lube oils. There has been no report of a release at this time. USCG is requesting resources at risk and a section 7 consultation for the lightering operation.
