Initial Notification: On February 26, 2017, the USCG Sector Lower MS River (LMR) received a report of towing vessel Sonny J sinking in a barge fleeting area north of Natchez bridge near Vidalia, LA (right descending bank). By 1700, the vessel was submerged up to the second deck. Oil spill response organization is on site and vessel is contained with boom. Minor amount of sheen observed. Salvage plan is being developed.
