Initial Notification: On June 1, 2016, the USCG Sector Delaware Bay contacted the NOAA SSC to report that an unidentified vessel, estimated to be 40 ft in length, grounded and than sank inside of Cape May inlet, New Jersey at approximately 9:30pm. USCG estimates that there are 350 gallons of diesel in the fuel tank and an additional 10 fifty-five gallons containers filled with diesel. No sign of a pollution event at the time of the notification. USCG requested NOAA modeling support.
