Initial Notification: On October 24, 2013, USCG contacted NOAA Scientific Support Coordinator about a discharge from an offshore oil platform located approximately 80 miles SE of Freeport, Texas. The incident was reported as a release of approximately 680 gallons of crude oil from a failure on a sump pump. Description of sheen was 5 miles by 600 feet. Spill trajectory information has been provided by NOAA Emergency Response Division.
