Initial Notification: On October 10, 2013 the USCG Marine Safety Unit Chicago notified the NOAA Scientific Support Coordinator of a diesel spill. Approximately 750-1000 gallons of diesel fuel spilled into the Calumet River during a fuel transfer to a tugboat.
