Initial Notification: At 2000 CST on 07MAY12, USCG Sector New Orleans contacted NOAA SSC about a pipeline release of LA sweet crude oil that occurred at 0800 the same day. The situation has stabilized and the pipeline is secure. USCG has been on scene and an OSRO has been hired by the RP. Overflight occurred at 1430 CST today and spotted a 10mi sheen moving NW along the coast. USCG has request a trajectory for sheen position at daylight tomorrow.
