Initial Notification: On October 22, 2010, ERD was notified by USCG of a potential spill off SW Pass, Louisiana. The incident is described as a 10 square mile area of "red oil" at latitude: 29° 02' 26" N, longitude: 089° 26' 55" W. There are two separate NRC reports. The USCG is investigating and contacted ERD about availability of remote sensing imagery and algae bloom information.
