Navy Jet Collision off Charleston, SC; 10mi east of Bull's Bay SC

Initial Notification: At approximately 2210h Eastern, the Hazmat Duty Officer was notified of the air collision of two Navy jets in the Atlantic off Charleston, SC. A fuel/oil sheen was observed at the site at 2029L, EDT, approximatly 10-12 mi. east of Bull's Bay. Aircraft had approximately 20,000 lb of JP-6 fuel on board at the time of the incident, shortly after takeoff. Collision is reported to have occured at 1500 ft altitude. A verbal fate and trajectory of the JP-6 was requested and provided to Sector Charleston, to determine if sensitive shoreline habitats might be exposed.
