Initial Notification: On the evening of 16 Jan. 2009, the USCG notified the regional NOAA Scientific Support Coordinator of an allision of the OSV C-ROVER with a MODU in the general area of the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary (FGBNMS). While completing transfer operations of synthetic-based drilling mud, the C-ROVER hit Column No. 4 on the Semi-Submersible MODU. The reported position was 27° 22.9’ N Lat. 094° 38.99’ W Long. (S of the FGBNMS).
