Initial Notification: On the evening of 11 December 2008, NOAA was requested to provide scientific support to USCG Marine Safety Unit Galveston for a grounded tug at the mouth of Dickinson Bayou, Texas. The TUG Sabine Pass had grounded earlier in the day, and was reported hard aground in soft mud and possibly an oyster reef. The tug is reported to have 4000 gallons of diesel onboard.
