Initial Notification: On October 28, 2008, at approximately 1530 EDT, the Tug Miss Janice was reported sinking on the Mississippi River near mile 97.8 (approx. location: 29º 55’ 01.74”N, 90º 04’ 45.587”W). The vessel is carrying approximately 14,000 gallons of diesel fuel and an unknown quantity of lube oil. The NOAA SSC was contacted for coordination and trajectory assistance.
