Initial Notification: At 5:26 PM (local time) on 10 June 2008, the USCG notified the NOAA Scientific Support Coordinator (SSC) of a grounded sperm whale near Port Aransas, Texas. At that time, the whale was reported alive and the USCG was seeking guidance.
