Tug John Terecamo; Delaware River

Initial Notification: At about 1940 EDT on June 15, 2001 the tug John Turecamo was hit by the propeller from a tanker. The tug started taking on water and losing fuel oil. To avoid sinking, the tug grounded itself along the north side of the Delaware River near Ft Mifflin at 39? 51.8' N by 75? 13.8' W. The tug had onboard 21,000 gallons of diesel fuel and 2,000 gallons of lube oil. Estimates are that about 2,000 gallons of diesel was lost. The tanker did not lose any oil. USCG district 5.
