Initial Notification: US Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Galveston (Texas) contacted NOAA SSC Charlie Henry regarding a grounded fishing vessel near Bolivar Peninsula approximately 17 miles ENE of the entrance to Galveston Bay. F/V SANDRA KAY, a shrimp vessel, is reported to have run aground 75 yards offshore, is carrying approximately 300 gallons of diesel but was not leaking at that time. The immediate concern is for the nearby, environmentally sensitive Bolivar Flats. NOAA Hazmat will be providing weather and a verbal trajectory to support the response. USCG district 8.
