Initial Notification: At approx. 11:30 local time, a well release was reported of approx. 200 bbls of crude oil from a platform at 27?58.8'N, 94?30.3'W. This location is approx. 90 nm south of Galveston, and 40nm west of the Flower Garden Marine Sanctuary. NRC reported a slick of about 1.5 miles by 300 yards. The oil type as been reported to be a 38 API crude. The volume estimate has since been downgraded to approx. 100 bbls. USCG district 8.
