MAIN PASS BLOCK 310 SPILL, LOUISIANA | 2001-Mar-20

Initial Notification: At approximately1420 CST, the ASSC was notified by MSO New Orleans of a crude oil spill of 3,300 gallons from a platform located in position 29?10'N, 88?41'W, Main Pass Block 310. The responsible party conducted an overflight and reported a slick measuring 150 X 1000 yards of dark brown oil. On scene winds are form the W-NW 25-30 knots and seas are 8-12 feet. The release has been secured. NOAA is providing trajectory and weather support. The ASSC is on standby should additional support be required. USCG district 8.
