Initial Notification: The M/V Ever Forest, enroute from Vancouver, Canada, via Afognak Island, Alaska, was carrying a load of grain and logs to Japan when it encountered heavy weather in the western Gulf of Alaska. The logs were individually stacked on deck and lashed with chains and come-alongs. At 0823 on Jan 17, 2001, approximately 2500 logs broke loose and went overboard at 54?04'N, 155?51'W. MSO Anchorage notified the NOAA SSC and asked that a trajectory for the logs be determined. USCG district 17.
