Initial Notification: On September 2000 Coast Guard Marine Safety Office (MSO) Wilmington, NC received reports that an unused tug was proposed to be sunk off of the coast of North Carolina. Questions that were put to the Coast Guard included what standards, if any, were there for lead based paint on vessels that would be sunk as part of a reef program. USCG district 5.
