Initial Notification: On the morning of 20 December the F/V SIDDIE GOLDEN went aground at the entrance to Okrakoke Inlet. Initial attempts to refloat the vessel by Coast Guard Group Cape Hatteras and other fishing vessels were not successful. The owner of the fishing vessel reported that he had no insurance to hire a clean up contractor to stand by if an oil release occurred during further salvage attempts. Marine Safety Office Hampton Roads opened the pollution fund and hired Industrial Marine Services to provide cleanup services if oil was released. The F/V SIDDIE GOLDEN was pulled free the morning of 22 December 1999. The vessel was towed to Silver Lake on Ocracoke Island. The vessel was reported to not have sustained any visible damage and no pollution resulted form the grounding and salvage efforts. USCG district 5.
