Initial Notification: Around 2300 hrs of 22 June the F/V JUAN GABRIEL was struck by the F/V GULF ISLAND and sank at 37-03.3N and 076-05.6W in the York Spit channel, Chesapeake Bay. During the rescue of the crew there was reports of the smell of oil in the vicinity. On the morning of 23 June, heavy fog with visibility less than one half mile made it impossible to see oil on the water surface. USCG district 8.
