USCGC COWSLIP; Columbia River

Columbia River | 1997-May-15

Initial Notification: At approximately 9:30 PM on May 14, 1997, the CG vessel Cowslip collided with the container vessel Evergreen near mile marker 10 on the Columbia River. The Cowslip proceeded to moorage where it was determined that the ship lost approximately 700 gallons of Fuel Oil #2. The container vessel apparently sustained no damage. The NOAA SSC was contacted and MASS provided a verbal trajectory. Coast Guard had personal in boats and a helocopter overflight scheduled for today, May 15 in order to search for any floating oil. - - NOAA SST remains on standby. USCG district 13.
