Initial Notification: On November 26, 1996, MSO Boston was contacted by Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) personnel to report oil contamination in Furnace Brook; the suspected source was a nearby hospital. Approximately one-quarter mile of marsh was impacted. State officials were interested in cutting the marsh and conducting more intrusive cleaning techniques. USCG district 1. Keyword: sorbent boom.
