Initial Notification: The motor vessel An Ping 6 spilled approximately 5,000 gallons of #6 fuel oil while taking on fuel from a barge. The An Ping 6 was at anchor in the Columbia River at the time of the incident. The responsible party estimated that 3,000 gallons ran off the vessel's deck and into the water. The heaviest sheens extended eight miles downriver. Active and passive shoreline cleanup continued for several weeks. Approximately 78 vessels, 12 floating homes, and 50 other floating structures were oiled and had to be cleaned. USCG district 13. Keyword: none.
