Initial Notification: At about 1130 on May 25, 1993, a southbound commuter train ruptured a transformer and sprayed approximately 100 gallons of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) over two miles of Track 4. At the time of the incident it was sunny with air temperature in the 70s, but showers were forecast for the evening. A cleanup contractor was hired to remove the spilled PCBs and AST)personnel were sent to oversee the cleanup. Areas of obvious contamination were removed. USCG district 1. Keyword: none.
