Initial Notification: On March 6, 1991, the motor barge VESTA BELLA, containing 560,000 gallons of #6 fuel oil, sank about 30 miles southeast of Barbuda, Trinidad. Oil was seen bubbling up from the sunken barge; U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) overflight observers reported a slick containing patches of sheen with some brown areas extending 15 by 5 nautical miles. USCG district 7.
