Initial Notification: On February 2, 1988, when the tug towing the hopper barge, SB 518, lost power, the barge went adrift and grounded at the mouth of the Rappahannock River near Stingray Point in ten feet of water. The barge contained approximately 1,600 tons of ammonium sulfate, and was reported to have taken on water in the void spaces. USCG district 5.
