Initial Notification: On January 4, 1988, the 66-foot fishing vessel, SEA MASTER, sank approximately 15 nautical miles west of Rocky Point in Northern California. The vessel had approximately 9,000 gallons of diesel fuel on board at the time of sinking. On January 5, a salvage vessel in the area of the sinking reported an oil sheen that was tending toward the east and within 12 nautical miles of the coast. USCG district 12.
