Initial Notification: On October 8, 1987, the Cabo Pilar grounded in the Magellan Strait, while en-route from Clarencia-Gregorio to San Vincente, Chile. Approximately 40,900 barrels of ENAP crude oil was spilled into the Strait off Punta Davis. Dispersants and manual methods were used in cleanup operations.
