Initial Notification: At 0334 on July 2, 1987, the tanker vessel Glacier Bay grounded and suffered hull damage south of the mouth of the Kenai River while en route to Nikiski from Valdez to unload approximately 16,380,000 gallons of North Slope Alaskan crude oil at the refinery. Initial reports indicated that 10-15 barrels (420-1,600 gallons) of oil had been lost. USCG district 17.
