Initial Notification: At approximately 2300 on December 6, 1986, the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Office, Anchorage, was notified that an oil spill had occurred in the Bering Sea approximately 300 miles north of Adak Island. While conducting an at-sea refueling mission of another Polish fishing vessel, a tear apparently developed in the refueling hose of the M/V Pieniny 2, spilling an estimated 250 barrels of a heavy fuel oil.
