Initial Notification: On August 8, 1986, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) reported that eight 100-pound containers of sodium cyanide had spilled onto Interstate 195 East near Providence. Personnel from the Rhode Island DEM and the Providence Fire Department reported on-scene. USCG district 1.
