Initial Notification: On January 29, 1986, a worker at Heinicke Aeronautics, an aircraft parts plant in Miami, Florida, was mixing approximately 10 gallons of sulfuric acid, ammonium hydroxide, and a third unknown which may have been phosphoric acid in a 55-gallon drum when the mixture began to smoke and give off heat. The Hollywood Fire Department was notified and the worker was sent to the hospital with symptoms of a sore throat and coughing up blood. USCG district 7.
