Initial Notification: On January 15, 1986 the container vessel Sealand Leader arrived at Sealand Terminal in Elizabeth, New Jersey with an unknown number of leaking 55-gallon drums of dimethoate, a solid pesticide, in two 35-foot containers. The leaking containers had to be safely removed from the vessel, the leaking material put into overpack containers, and the vessel and other affected cargo decontaminated. USCG district 3.
