Oleum Barge Grounding; Sabine Lake, TX

Initial Notification: A double hull barge carrying 7,200 barrels of 30% concentration of sulfuric acid oleum grounded at 29 deg 57.5'N, 93 deg 51.5'W (200 yards north of buoy 64, west side of the channel Sabine Lake). The barge was refloated during the night of May 26. The barge was transferred to the Bean Fleet pier to allow inspectors to check the condition of the barge and cargo. On May 27, there were no problems noted and it was expected that the barge would continue on its voyage.
