Initial Notification: On the morning of October 31, 2026, U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Detroit contacted the NOAA Scientific Support Coordinator (SSC) regarding an asphalt tank fire at the Waterfront Petroleum facility in Detroit, Michigan. The NOAA SSC provided a spot weather forecast and information regarding contaminants of concern, modeling, monitoring, and other response recommendations for petroleum fires. NOAA awaits any further requests for information or support.
