Initial Notification: On the morning of September 16, 2026, U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Marine Safety Unit Cape Cod contacted the NOAA Scientific Support Coordinator (SSC) regarding a commercial fishing vessel fire south of Nantucket, Massachusetts. No pollution was reported at the time but the USCG was requesting potential trajectory information from NOAA.
