Tug Miss Peggy Sunk; Houston Shipping Channel, TX

Initial Notification: On 19-JUL-24, USCG Sector Houston contacted NOAA NW RRO about the Tug Miss Peggy that sank near the Lynchberg Ferry route. One crewmember was killed. The cause of the sinking was a collision between the tug and a tanker, not damages to the tanker reported and they have left the area. The Tug Miss Peggy sunk with a max potential of 4,000 gallons of diesel aboard, but is not currently discharging fuel. USCG Sector Houston is requesting a NOAA trajectory analysis of a potential release of fuel. Salvage operations are being planned for tomorrow morning 20-JUL-24.
