Initial Notification: On 4-Jun-24, EPA OSC contacted the NOAA SSC and NW RRO about a mineral oil spill in that is impacting Leach Creek in Tacoma, WA. Initial reports indicate a spill of 300 gallons of Non-PCB Mineral oil at Tacoma Public Utilities and that some portion has led into a storm drain and is impacting Leach Creek. The initial amount has been updated to 1,000 gallons. WA Dept of Ecology is currently on scene responding, and EPA has been notified and is currently monitoring the situation, but has not deployed personnel. EPA is requesting any ESA concerns from NOAA .
