Initial Notification: On the afternoon of 20-MAY-2023, USCG Sector San Francisco contacted their NOAA SSC to discuss the pollution potential of a crashed Twin Otter aircraft that crashed roughly 40 miles WSW of San Francisco International Airport (SFO) with an estimated 1,000 gallons of Jet A fuel on board. Search & rescue operations are underway and USCG requested fuel fate information to consider potential pollution threats.
