Derelict Gill Net in Florida Keys NMS; Florida Keys

Initial Notification: On January 5th, 2023, the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary contacted the NOAA Emergency Response Division to request modeling support for a large abandoned gill net found near a coral reef restoration site. Gill nets are not allowed in Florida waters. Sanctuary staff requested a modeling hind-cast to help determine where the net might have originated.
