Shrimping Vessel Sunk Offshore of Jamaica Beach, TX

Initial Notification: On November 25, 2022, the shrimping vessel F/V Captain Alex sank approximately 11 NM offshore of Jamaica Beach, Texas. All crew was rescued. She was reported to be carrying approximately 15,000 gallons of diesel fuel. No sheen was reported at the time of sinking or has been noted subsequently. MSU Texas City has been working with the vessel owner on salvage and pollution issues. On December 6, 2022, MSU Texas City contacted NOAA SSC for evaluation of the potential discharge of the diesel fuel.
