Discharge of Drilling Mud from Unmanned Platform, High Island 582 Block, Texas

Initial Notification: On May 26, 2022, an estimated 129 gallons of drilling mud was discharged from an unmanned platform in the High Island 582 block owned by Cox Operating (NRC#1337043). MSU Texas City contacted NOAA SSC for input on fate, trajectory and potential impact to Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary. Phone support provided. Additionally , MSU Texas City asked for input as to whether a unknown sheen reported in NRC#1337165 was potentially connected. Phone support provided, along with follow-up email.
