Discharge of Crude Oil at Liquid Oxygen Plant, Mud Lake, LA

Initial Notification: On 8 FEB 2022, the NOAA SSC was contacted by the USCG Sector New Orleans regarding a discharge of crude oil from a 400 barrel tank in the vicinity of Mud Lake that occurred on 4 FEB 2022. The total discharge amount was estimated to be between 5bbls and 10 bbls with 3-5 bbls outside of containment in the waterway and marsh. An overflight on February 8 showed an area of dark oil around the facility and partial loss of containment with one streamer of dark oil outside of containment. The USCG requested a trajectory for oil discharged outside of containment and resources at risk.
