Initial Notification: At 0900 on June 30th, Great Lakes SSC was notified about an industrial fire in South Chicago by IL EPA. The incident occurred on June 29th, at an old papermill with suspected lithium batteries stored in the facility. An evacuation order was issued and fire fighters utilizing foam to extinguish the flame. SSC connected IL EPA to NWS WFO Chicago hydrologist for river local forecasts.
