Initial Notification: On 9 December 2002 NOAA Hazmat received a request for assistance from the USCG to forecast the movement of a submerged object. The object, possibility a container, was struck on 8 December by a fishing vessel approximately 20 miles southeast of Cape Henry. NOAA provided weather information, a trajectory analysis and a possible search area.
