3423 Klickitat Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98134, USA | 2020-Mar-23

Initial Notification: The West Seattle Bridge, which serves as the primary connection between the community of West Seattle and the rest of the city, was closed on March 23, 2020 due to rapid growth in cracking along the center section of the bridge. The bridge spans the east and west channels that form the mouth of the Duwamish River at Elliott Bay, crossing over Harbor Island. A collapse of the bridge could impact activities on Harbor Island and navigation up the Duwamish river, both centers of commercial and industrial activity for the city. A unified command has been established among the USCG, Washington DOT, and City of Seattle Police and Fire Departments. No pollution is anticipated at this time.
